The Market Scenario
In 2011, Silicon Valley investor Marc Andreessen famously declared that “software is eating the world. ”Half a decade later, this statement still rings true, and it could equally be said that Computer Science skills are eating the job market. Even in jobs that aren’t traditional computing jobs, employers are seeking Computer Science skills from applicants. In roles across the job market— designers, engineers, marketers, scientists, and data analysts—employers look for Computer Science skills. However, for an institute like ours, where CS/IT branch is not available, it’s a great relief that though Computer Science skills are in demand, a Computer Science degree is not a requirement.

Local Chapter of Swayam- National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL)
Education garnered from a traditional brick and mortar institute is finite, whereas through various Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), one never has to stop learning or limit oneself to the traditional confines of learning through institute-offered alternatives. It also brings in a high degree of flexibility in an otherwise rigid system of rote and examination. In a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous (VUCA) world governed by disruptive innovation, the only truly sustainable skill is learning. It is only by constantly upskilling and updating oneself with the latest trends and next best practices that one can hope to stay relevant and ahead of the competition. With this in mind, we have initiated and established a local chapter of Swayam- NPTEL in ACE with effect from July 2019. Swayam is a programme initiated by Government of India and designed to achieve the three cardinal principles of education policy viz., access, equity and quality. The objective of this effort is to take the best teaching learning resources to all including the most disadvantaged. The following have successfully completed the NPTEL course on Geotech Engineering Lab:
1. Asst. Prof. THASNEEM SHAJAHAN : Elite+ Gold certificate
2. NIKHIL NEVIN RICHARD, S5 CE : Elite + Silver Certificate
3. DILSHAD.R.S, S5 CE : Elite + Silver Certificate
4. GREESHMA R REMESH, S5 CE : Elite Certificate
ICT Academy of Kerala
In order to provide the bright students of academic institutions with opportunities to obtain gainful career, ICT Academy of Kerala (ICTAK) has formed a premium membership programme this year with select engineering/science colleges in the state. Our institute has been selected as one among the top 25 institutes in Kerala. Selected institutions will be provided with a one-year membership and will be supported by ICTAK on a set of activities that will help the students, teachers and the institution at large.
Conclusion
The efforts of the CGPU team, combined with the excellent academic system and the opportunity for all-round development have contributed to making ACE one of the preferred destinations for recruiters as well as students. The success of the placement endeavour can be attributed to the willingness of the students to put in hard work as well as the tremendous support provided by the administration, HoDs, faculty, student volunteers and other well-wishers. The CGPU team is thanking them all and look forward to their continued support.
CGPU REPORT 2018-19
